Happy 3rd Anniversary!

15 Nov

< to us, that is..>

We’ve just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. Wow has it just been 3 years? I feel that we’ve been married for very long already.. (in a good way).

Both of us took leave on that day, but apparently pi had meeting in the morning, so he can only take half day leave.. which is good. Because it gave me ample time to prepare a little something for him: I decided to try baking cupcakes!

I think it’s my first time baking cakes in Singapore.. wahahahaha… My oven has been under-utilised for very long, hor? I’ve bought all the necessities in a cake shop in Toa Payoh which is quite complete, just that I need to walk quite far from my office (about 20-25 mins of walking!). And 1 visit is not enough to buy all the things, since I’m so fickle-minded, especially in choosing the not important but fun stuff, such as: which paper cup design should I choose? What size?? Can you imagine I can spend like 10-15 mins just to decide that? And coupled with walking time and the time I need to have my lunch, you can see why 1 visit is not enough in my (already) extended lunch-hour (1 1/2 hours haha). Oh, must say thank you to a friend who has given me self-raising flour and cranberries to make the cupcake!

So… the baking process begun.. Based on recipe from internet, I wanted to make vanilla cupcake with cranberries, topped with chocolate toppings.

As can be guessed, Vio got scared by the sound of mixer, and he kept tugging me to play with him. So finding a time to make the cake (and the topping) was proven to be quite difficult, as Vio always came to nag me to play with him. Nevertheless, here’s the vanilla cupcake, fresh from the oven! (though I’m not sure why the top part is not smooth as in picture.. some cracked up. But that’s not a problem lah.. since anyway it will be topped by chocolate topping. And I’m not having high expectations on it anyway…)

Fresh from the Oven

I tried 1 piece, and yummm.. It was not bad… The texture was quite soft 🙂

As for the chocolate topping, I decided to substitute the required cocoa powder to use chocolate drink that I already have, but reducing the sugar. And…. it’s not apparently working well. The topping came out to be reaaaaaaallll sweet. Next time, should follow recipe and use real cocoa powder, or melted chocolate bar instead.. But anyway, it works well as the topping (though the color is not chocola-tey enough). Just that in the end, we didn’t eat the topping.

Oh well, it doesn’t look too bad right? (Repeat: I’m not having high expectation. Haha!)

And here’s the cupcakes prepared specially for pi…

Though not as pretty as those sold in the shops, it’s the thought that counts, isn’t it? 😉

Not long after, pi came home with a stalk of pink roses. Thank you, darling! 🙂

We had our dinner at Ambush, a European restaurant with apparently, rather affordable prices. I ordered German sausage with Rosti; the sausage was real nice! Vio love it a lot (and so does mommy)! Pi ordered paella, which is a Spanish food. The taste was quite unique. The only thing is… the portion was quite small. I didn’t really feel full after eating it.. Haha… I think they encourage people to order more side dishes.. :p

Looking back at the last 3 years, overall it was a great. Surely there are some ups and downs, but I’d rather we look at the more “up” side. And since I’m currently pregnant, I can’t help but remember the sweet little things pi had done, especially during my first pregnancy. Some of them are listed here (just in case my memory fails me!)

  1. He woke up in the middle of many nights whenever I had sudden leg cramps, and massaged my leg until I was feeling better, and of course, willingly without complaint.
  2. He didn’t let me do any tiring housework during my pregnancy, and took over all of them. These were brooming, mopping, and cleaning the toilet. I was left only with dusting, which was the easiest housework.
  3. Despite his dislike of guys who carry their girlfriends’ or wives’ bags, he was more than willingly carry my bag when I’m pregnant.
  4. He has no complain and is very supportive of my pregnancy complaints, which is always the same for many many nights in a row, and always try to help to lessen the discomfort.
  5. … and many other small things that can’t all be mentioned here..

All in all, thank you dear for these three great years 🙂

Our Honeymoon (Taiwan) – Part I

10 Mar

Ahem ahem… I know this is kinda late to write the details of our honeymoon, but hey, better late than never? 😉 Before my memory starts to fail me, I better write about this first!

Pi has heard many positive “review” of Taiwan from his friends/colleagues, so he wanted to go Taiwan for our honeymoon, and I’m the type that will be happy to go anywhere.. Hahaa.. So one day, we went to this Natas Fair at Singapore Expo, and saw that one of tour package from SA Tours had the places we wanted to visit (the must-visit place was Alishan and Taroko Gorge), so we booked it straightaway. I remember we actually booked it for 26th Dec 2007, so we don’t need to take so many days of leaves. But somehow, the person handling our booking must be blur or something, she wrote it as 13 Dec 2007! And that day I was in a rush, as I remember I need to go home early to watch Swan Lake show with Allie. So after booking, we only checked some fields, such as our names (that’s the most important thing right?) and kinda assume that the date would be correct!

Oh yeah, I think I should mention this, for the first time ever, pi & I was quite lucky! There was a promo that we will get a sure-win thing if we pay using Citibank credit card. Initially I thought, with our luck, maybe what we’ll be getting is… hmm, let me see.. Pen? Book? LOL… But guess what? We got a Electric Steamboat & BBQ set! Waaaaaahh.. Soo happy.. Ahem, not that we use it often.. I think so far, we have used it twice only.. LOL…

Reaching home, we put the form aside, and kinda forget about it, until few weeks (or was it months?) later, when someone from SA Tour called me, I think it’s about the briefing or remaining payment or something, then she mentioned the date “13 Dec 2007”. And I was saying that our departure date was “26 Dec 2007”, but she said she was sure it’s 13 Dec and ask me to check the form again. To my horror, the form did write it as 13 Dec!! Aiyoooooooo.. and by then, nothing we can do to change it back to 26 Dec since it was already few weeks before departure date. Felt kinda upset, coz what we paid should be for more “peak” period (well, 26 Dec must be a super peak period right?) but in the end, going for a not-so-peak period. But there was no use keeping ourself upset about this, just let it go and enjoooyyy the trip ^^

DAY 1

Oh oh, finally our departure day was coming. I remember we were quite excited. We’re meeting the tour guide in the airport in the afternoon, then we checked in (our flight was China Airline, about 3pm+). And a pleasant surprise is.. The plane was quite full, so we were upgraded to Business Class! Yippeee…

The journey was about 5 hours+, and the movie played during the journey was The Bourne Ultimatum.

When we reached Taipei, it was already quite late, I think about 8pm – 9pm. And once we went out of the airport, it was sooooo collddd we literally run to the bus. OK not as cold as snow season of course, but it’s our first time going to a place during winter time, even though not as cold as snowy places. And considering we’re from Singapore where it’s hot hot hot hot hot summer all year round… Hmm.. the coldest weather in Taiwan that time I guess should be about 10-15C..

Since it was already late at night, the tour guide (we have 1 tour guide from Singapore, Gene, and another local tour guide, Tony) brought us to a nearby mall (Tai Mall) where we have our dinner in the foodcourt.

First Meal in Taiwan

First Meal in Taiwan

We bought beef sukiyaki served in hot plate. And I must tell you.. It is veeeeeeeery delicious. Moreover compared to Singapore food that’s mostly bland in taste.. LOL.. And the mall was cutely decorated with cute figurines for Christmas.. I love it!

DAY 2

We woke up very early morning to start our journey.. But we didn’t feel sleepy, coz we’re too excited maybe.. kekekekeee…

After breakfast, we took a bus to Jioufen Old Street, which was, as the name suggest, and old street.. LOL.. The street was quite narrow and the decoration was traditional Chinese. It was nice! There were many small shops along the street, selling food and other stuff. Here we tried (and bought) a lottt of packets of mochi. The mochi there are niceeeee! We bought quite a lot for our family and friends. And here we also bought some ocarina, which is Taiwan’s traditional music instrument.

Jioufen Old Street

Jioufen Old Street

Oh yeah.. we reached there quite early morning, so most of the shops were still closed. But not long after, the shops started to open.. And you know what? Small cars and motorbikes are also going thru this street! Tsk tsk tsk.. such a small street and yet some cars still wanna go thru the street..

Afterwards, we took a train, followed by bus, to go to Taroko Gorge, which was huge huge huge mountains of marbles. The view was amaaaazing. We suddenly felt like we were just small small ants as compared to the nature.

Taroko Gorge

I think the photo doesn’t really do the place justice. The real one was muuuccchh nicer.

That night, we stayed overnight at Promised Land resort.

Our 2 Years Celebration ^^

12 Nov

We had a worthy-to-remember anniversary celebration yesterday! And the day began with.. something sweet!

A Card & A Cookie

A Card & A Cookie

Hmm.. Isn’t the cookie looks just yummy? I got it from Famous Amos, but we haven’t tried it yet til now actually.. And in response to this, pi was commenting “why 2? Isn’t it our first anniversary?” -_-    Apparently he kept thinking that it’s our 1st anniversary since Vio is about to turn to 1 year old! Haha…

Anyway, that’s only a small “surprise” I’ve prepared.. the real one is coming sooon.. We went off from our house at 10+ am, and I didn’t wanna tell pi where we’re going.. Let him be curious.. hehe.. isn’t it more fun? 😉 And so.. we stop at Bukit Batok MRT Station..

Pi: Are we going to St Mary church?
Me: No.. we’re going to CSC..
Pi: (A bit frowning) Huh? What do they have there?
Me: (Giggling but still no answer)

Only when we reached CSC, I finally told pi: we’re gonna have a couple spa! Hehe.. Yup yup it’s our first ever couple spa!! Have always wanted to try it out, but normally it’s quite expensive. But since currently got a 1st-trial promo from UOB, I decided to try it out, and doubled as a gift for pi 😉

We had our spa at The Ultimate, located at level 5. The place was nice! And the spa was biiiiiiiiggggg.. at least much bigger compared to other spa I went to (with the exception of True Spa, which was also biiigggg..)

Couple's Spa

Couple's Spa

We chose to have a Balinese massage with red wine. It was niiiiiicee.. (But few hours after, both pi & me are feeling aching on whole of our body.. hehe…) And the couple’s room have a jacuzzi inside it, so we soak in it after the massage (with red wine too) for about 20 mins. Oohh.. it was so comfortable. I wish they let us stay in the jacuzzi longer! And it was so romantic too, as the light was dimmed and the jacuzzi have many different light colours.

After the whole thing was done, both of us feel so sleepy. If only they provide a bed there so we can sleep! But of course they don’t.. And luckily, they didn’t hardsell the package to us.

So after that, we continued our “journey” to Westmall, where we had our lunch at Swensens, completed with the sundaes! Yummy yummy!

Sweet Treats

Sweet Treats

And not to forget, I think I should show the newest “accessories” to my-otherwise-boring cubicle…

A Gift from My Darling ^^

A Gift from My Darling ^^

..and what is that, you wonder? It’s a digital photo frame! It can show jpeg files from SD card or USB drive. Pi said since I love to look at Vio’s photos at home, he’s giving me this one so I can see Vio’s photos at office too. Ooohh.. I love it! Thank you darling =)

2 Wonderful Years – Reminiscing Our Wedding

11 Nov
Eternity begins at this moment

Eternity begins at this moment

Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary. Oh my, is it 2 years already? Feel like yesterday we’re still going for our prewedding photoshoot, choosing the photos, scouting for wedding reception place, getting upset from chasing the invitation cards that keeps getting delayed.. Oh yeah, a wedding needs a lot lot looooots of planning! Though it can be quite stressful, I kinda miss those moments sometimes..

And also remembering that our “dream” wedding is supposed to be in SG, we’ve almost signed up to a wedding lunch at Hilton hotel, as I like the pool located just beside the reception area.

I still remember the worries a few days before the wedding: will everything be ok? who will be the main coordinator? will we have enough time for photo taking in the church? will we be late to the reception? will the cake look nice? how about the church deco? and will the choir sings nicely? and so on and so on..

And I also still remember the arguments we had for the wedding.. Should the wedding be in sg or jakarta? How many people will be invited? What’s the budget for this and that.. And also just few days before the wedding, when pi refused to take videoshooting for the groom’s side because of time limitation.. Oh my, how I worried at that time. Wouldn’t it look funny if the video only have the bride’s side? But thankfully we managed to resolve all the arguments and all sides are in a win-win situation.

Despite all the “troubles” in wedding preparation, the overall experience (especially during the day itself) was jubilant! At least as I look back to that day, the memory that I have is definitely a good one 🙂

remember this..

remember this..

And of course thank God everything went smoothly.. All my worries can  settle by themselves. Everything was haaaappyy.. Well, the number of guests coming to the party was way out of our expectation. Since it was such a hot date (until we can’t even get an affordable wedding car as all has been rented out and almost all of the reception places are booked for dinner, so we have to settle for lunch instead!), I was surprised to see the number of guests coming to the wedding. I hope there were enough food to entertain them. One thing for sure is the vegetarian and “gubuk” food was not enough.. But then again, it will never be enough as people will be kiasu to have them first before the main course!

And a funny thing happening in the wedding was.. we bought 2 confetti for the wedding toast. Well, we bought the cheapest we can find in Mangga Dua.. hehe… and during the wedding toast, when the MC was saying “Wedding… Toast!!” …………… then it was… silence…… BOTH confetti are not working! haha.. Aiyoh…. a good lesson learnt.. don’t buy the cheapest thing around… 🙂

And my beloved bouquet..

My Wedding Bouquet

My Wedding Bouquet

Oh oh.. Isn’t it a pretty little thing? I love it a lot….. But sadly it’s no longer with us now.. I believe my sister already sent her to the rubbish bin loooooong ago.. 1 day after the wedding, one of the roses (in the middle somemore!) was “running away” from it’s friends! Haha.. Yeah it drops.. so sad.. Anyway, no use crying over spilled milk.. Let’s remember another happy little details..

Ah.. how about…

St Ursula Chapel

St Ursula Chapel

..the chapel in which we exchange our vows! Look at how beauuuuutiful and classic it looks.. I’ve always wanted to get married in this kind of place! And with the pretty pink-white decoration (with minimum budget btw), it was justttt.. peeeeeeeerrrfect!

Well, other than the fact that the sisters that manage this chapel had a looooot of rules.. cannot use electricity for the video lighting.. the decoration must be done at this time to this time.. must pay for admin fee.. cannot do many things.. but since i love this place so much, we still choose to held our holy matrimony there. And little did we know that there were so many people coming to the chapel. There was no enough seat since the chapel was quite small.. Some people were standing outside of the chapel liao.. Oh well, it means that many people wants to give us their blessings right? 🙂

Wow.. what a long post it is… And there are lots of other details that I haven’t put up here.. I guess I can’t possibly put all here right? 😉

A Sweet Kiss

A Sweet Kiss

7 years

22 Sep

Today marks the 7th years since pi & I started dating.. wow.. how fast time flies! 7 years does sound very long, don’t you think? 😉

We had a long weekend this time.. bcoz of the Hari Raya.. and speaking of Hari Raya, surprisingly, 1 of my malay neighbour actually gave us (homemade, i think) cookies! So many types! And all are very nice… well, last year they didn’t give any.. this year they give is coz of my MIL sometimes talk to their mum.. hehehee.. and so, we also bought a tin of bengawan solo cookies to return their favour.

And also, seems like we have a never-ending relative visiting session! Wie2 is now visiting until end of Sept, and suddenly, another pi’s relative, Ko Amu & his wife also called to say that they’re in sg! Woah.. so many relatives lately.. So this week, we postponed our plan to bring Vio to church again (for dunno how many weeks liao..) Hopefully we can bring him to church next week!

So while pi, Wie2, and my MIL was accompanying them to shop around Bugis, mommy was busy snapping photos of Vio in daddy’s new hat! kekekeke..

Stylo Baby

Now tell me.. don’t you think he look so adorable and cuteee?
Vio also love to dance during the weekend.. esp when daddy is singing “ducky duck” to him.. And he also crawl faster! Even though it’s still not correct, because he’s dragging his right leg… His legs look more like sitting position compared to crawling position.. lol..
This is my crawling style..

This is my crawling style..

And sadly… it’s very very difficult lately to get him to sleeeep!!! Esp at night! Now he don’t like to be carried in craddle position.. He likes to be in upright position.. but in that position, his head always pop up, put down on my shoulder.. then pop up again.. *sigh* i hope we can settle in a new sleeping routine soon… on Friday night, vio even slept at 10:30 pm! wow! that’s 2 hours spent on making him sleep..
Ah.. we also brought Vio to Marina Square on Sunday, to accompany pi buying crocs.. finally he bought 1! Hopefully it’s very comfortable.. I was also tempted to buy 1.. but the one that I want has no disc, so maybe next time lor.. ^.^   Afterwards we went to Suntec and bring Vio to Toys R Us.. It’s his first visit there… hehehee.. He was so happy to see many many many toys.. and got angry when we took things that he was playing with away from him..
Halloweeen!

Halloweeen!

And while at Toys R Us.. it was Vio’s feeding time.. so we gave him milk.. and… he POO.. aiyo.. bad bad bad habit.. he loooooooves to poo while eating/drinking milk since he’s little baby.. haiz… so it was my first experience to change him in public places! Luckily there’s a baby room there..
